Good friggin' question ... this site originally started out as a place to post my cheesy photographs. They weren't all that good,
and to be honest, quite forgettable. Back in those golden oldie days we used this thing called "film" and it had to be "developed"
by high school kids working part time at the local convienence store.
And then, back in 2002 my life took a wierd, wacky turn when I ended up in the hospital with heart problems. Just before I went under the knife
I bought a Canon G3. Don't ask me why I did it, I just wanted to remember everything and have it on record. Oddly enough, after the surgery
I really didn't have the strength to take photos! Go figure! Walking around with an oxygen tank wears you out and I had trouble
holding my camera while my free hand was busy keeping my hospital gown closed so no one could see my "bum".
After I healed and recovered the digital photography madness took root and I started to carry the G3 everyday. A year later
I splurged for a Canon 10D and I'm now saving my pennies for a Canon 5D (one day baby, one day). The photos got a lot better and
suddenly I figured out f-stops and shutter speeds.
WHAT IS MY PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE?
Well, I've been really serious about keeping my "amateur photographer" status since 1998. As you can see by the blurry and
under exposed shots that litter this site, photography is not my day job. I am a computer programmer by trade and photography
occupies the rest of my life.
Anyway, I took a photography class at the International Center of Photography a few years back to learn f-stops and
shutter speeds but it wasn't until I got a digital camera and was able to see the results immediately did it stick.
WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DO I USE?
Primarily a Canon 40D with a Sigma 18-50mm lens, although my little Canon S70 has been known to take some good pics too.
Before the Canon 40D (a relic by todays standards) I worked with:
- Canon 40D
- Canon 10D
- Nikon N80
- Canon Rebel SLR 2000
- Canon G3
- Canon S60
- several Canon S70's (things just keep happening at the beach!)
I suppose you could count the years I "borrowed" my dad's Kodak 110mm camera back in the 70's but since the evidence is lost, pffft!

not just incompetent, but a complete waste of bandwith. When the old CrashRyan site finally died I decided to rewrite evertying from scratch in .NET.
